Paris, March 31, 2024 – Thanks to the support of its investors and partners, including French and European family offices and institutional investors, IVO Legal Strategies Fund III SLP has €110 million to deploy. The independent asset management company, which has ten years of experience in this asset class, during which it has financed 50 cases, confirms its expertise and its status as a key French player in a rapidly growing global market.
The litigation funding market (also known as third-party funding) – which involves financing legal actions brought by companies, associations, or foundations to enable them to obtain compensation for damages – is experiencing strong growth globally and in Europe. The European Parliament estimated in 2019 that this market already represented approximately €1 billion [1] in Europe, while according to Research Nester, the volume of third-party-funded litigation worldwide is expected to continue to grow, with an annual growth rate of 13.14% between 2023 and 2035. [2] In the Anglo-Saxon world, where the market is more mature, the use of third-party funding is increasingly favored by lawyers and legal departments.
By doubling the level of collection with this third vintage, IVO Capital continues to consolidate its strategy on litigation financing, and extends its capacity to provide litigants with the economic means to take legal action in order to have their damages compensated.
IVO Capital has been a player in the litigation financing market for ten years, among the pioneers in Europe, and one of the only ones currently established in France.
IVO Capital’s initial litigation funding focused primarily on commercial disputes in Anglo-Saxon jurisdictions. With the increasing use of arbitration
- Actions for compensation following convictions by regulatory authorities (particularly competition authorities)
- Actions aimed at compensating for damages arising from breaches of contractual obligations (in arbitration or before state courts)
Currently, IVO Capital Partners, through its second fund, is financing large-scale actions to protect European consumers and compensate victims of cartels.
“The successful raising of our third fund marks a decisive turning point in our Litigation Financing strategy. It confirms the growing interest of French and European investors in this expanding asset class, and the central role we can play in this market to facilitate access to justice. We are firmly committed to offering high-performing and responsible solutions to create value for our investors and simplify access to justice. “— Sidney Oury, co-founder and CEO of IVO Capital Partners
“Over the past ten years, we have built a strong network of contacts and trust with lawyers, general counsel, and consumer associations who will benefit from the financing solutions this fundraising makes possible. The European market is booming, and the timing of this fundraising perfectly aligns with the growing desire among plaintiffs and lawyers to explore financing options and alternatives to bring their litigation to a successful conclusion. “— Paul de Servigny, Manager of Litigation Funding at IVO Capital Partners
